HOUSE LEAGUE HOCKEY
The GBHA has more than 850 house league players every season. In order to promote participation and fun at every level we have tiered most divisions.
The GBHA Division Convenors hold assessment skates at the beginning of the season in order to create fair and balanced teams. Though we occasionally receive requests for players to play with one another, please understand that such requests make it difficult to balance teams.
Regular attendance at House League games is imperative to ensure that all kids have an enjoyable season. It is extremely difficult to balance teams if regular attendance by all players is not enforced.
During registration, please indicate whether your player is a goalie - it is extremely important for successful team building. At the younger divisions, players are rotated through the Goalie position and equipment is provided. In the older divisions, it is necessary to know goalie count before determining team numbers.
CODE OF CONDUCT:
We expect all players, coaches and parents are to abide by our code of conduct. Our Codes of Conduct are available on our Rules & Regulations page. In addition, one parent from every family registered in organized hockey must take the Respect in Sport Parent program. More information on the program is on our Registration and Home pages.
Select players must be registered as House League players and attendance is mandatory in order to remain on the team.
The GBHA and its coaches offer bi-weekly skills sessions to all levels except Midget/Juvenile. These sessions are offered at no additional cost. In addition, we may offer specific Girls Development and Goalie sessions. These sessions will be confirmed at the beginning of the season.
In addition we annually rent outdoor ice at High Park for team practices during the Outdoor season.
A GBHA season can't happen without the support of its parent volunteers. Our volunteers are coaches, assistants coaches, trainers and managers. They also run our tournament, fundraise, run equipment swaps and more.
If you would like to volunteer in some capacity, please indicate so on your child’s registration or contact us directly.
We are currently seeking parents who are willing to Convene some of our House League Divisions.
Please note that The Greater Toronto Hockey League (the “GTHL”) has made it mandatory for all coaches and volunteers to have a police criminal record check. All must submit a check at the beginning of the season and provide proof of the results to the GBHA administration.
The GBHA depends on sponsorships to offset costs. We wish to support neighbourhood businesses and members of our community.
Please indicate your interest in being a sponsor on your child’s registration. The cost to sponsor a House League team is $650.00. Your logo will be printed on a set of team sweaters and will be posted on our website.
There are additional opportunities to sponsor other programs at the the GBHA including our Annual GBHA Hockey Tournament and our Girls Development and Goalie & Skills programs.
