Timbits U7 Initiation - LEARN TO PLAY PROGRAM

GBHA Instructors support players and parents to provide a terrific learning environment. Parents are able to work with their child during the first 8-10 weeks in order to get their players to a level where they are independently walking/skating and can join in the 'Learn to Play' practices.

In addition, when the sessions move to team play, our House League program is divided into tiers allowing all players to enjoy success in game situations as they continue to learn to skate and acquire basic hockey skills.

The goal of the Tyke  program is FUN!  FUN!  FUN!

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

From mid-September until the end of November (approx. 8-10 weeks) the players participate in the “Learn to Play" portion of the program. Players are divided into one of four different groups based on skill. These are fluid groups and you can move between them to find the appropriate level for your player. These sessions focus on developing skills at a pace and intensity appropriate for the needs of each group.

Players are divided into teams at the end of November or early in December and are allocated into the appropriate tier according to skill level:

  • Tyke Tier One (Select, CDP Players)
  • Tyke Tier Two (each team will have a line of Old Timers, Veterans, Rookies and Prospects)

The ice is divided into 4 stations; every week the players rotate through Game, Skill development and Play stations.
