The GBHA has more than 1000 players every season, and the majority of those players play House League hockey. This season will see a reformatting of every division! The youngest players will now play in the Initiation Program, and the older divisions will see a new format that we're calling Split Seasons!

Initiation Program - Players born after 2013

Our youngest House League players will be part of our new Initiation Program. Employing Hockey Canada's modified ice environment to make a child’s first experience with hockey fun, safe, and positive, it allows young players to experience more puck-handling, shooting, skating, coordination and decision-making.

U13 House League - Players born in 2010 & 2011

U15-18 House League - Players born in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, & 2009

Players from U10 to U18 will play in our classic House League program with some exciting changes for 2022-23 with our new Split Seasons!

This year we're dividing the hockey season into 3 clearly defined segments: Exhibition, Fall, and Winter.

The goal of the Split Seasons is to dial up the fun while also maximizing our ability to maintain competitive balance in House League. The adding of multiple championships to the season (Fall & Winter) also enables us to provide a fulfilling House League experience no matter what external pressures the season brings.

The opening season will last one month and be focused on balancing teams while getting players back into the hockey groove.

Players will be evaluated over the initial two weeks, followed by two weeks of exhibition games, with the expectation that many trades will take place in an effort to balance the teams.

In each age group the teams will play each other at least once and the standings will be used to determine seeds for the Fall Playoffs, a two-tiered, two-week tournament right before the winter break where we crown the Fall Champion!

  • Every game will impact the final tournament
  • Full players statistics + League standings posted at the rink
  • All playoff games will have an announcer and music

The fall season teams will be dissolved and, with assistance from the Convenor and the Fall Season Statistics, the Coaches will draft their own teams from the House League Player Pool for the Winter Season!

The regular season standings will determine the seeding for our final one-month Double-Elimination Winter Playoffs!

  • Every game will impact the playoffs
  • Full player statistics + League standings posted at the rink
  • All playoff games will have an announcer and music
  • Individual awards to end the season like MVP, Leading Scorer, Most Valuable Goalie, Most Valuable Defender, Most Improved, Most Sportsmanlike, etc.

The GBHA provides weekly Hockey Skills sessions with our Skills Team during the outdoor season at the High Park Outdoor rink at no additional cost to players.

Goalie Skills Instructors provide weekly Goalie skills sessions for all levels. These exceptional sessions are Sunday mornings at McCormick Arena, and also come at no additional cost to players.

A GBHA season can't happen without the support of its parent volunteers.  Our volunteers are Coaches, Assistants Coaches, Trainers and Managers.

If you would like to volunteer in some capacity, please indicate so on your child’s registration or contact us directly.

We are currently seeking parents who are willing to Convene some of our House League Divisions.

Please note that The Greater Toronto Hockey League (the “GTHL”) has made it mandatory for all coaches and volunteers to have a police criminal record check. All must submit a check at the beginning of the season and provide proof of the results to the GBHA administration.

The GBHA depends on sponsorships to offset costs.  We wish to support neighbourhood businesses and members of our community.

Please indicate your interest in being a sponsor on your child’s registration. The cost to sponsor a House League team is $650.00. Your logo will be printed on a set of team sweaters and will be posted on our website.

There are additional opportunities to sponsor other programs at the the GBHA including our Annual GBHA Hockey Tournament and our Girls Development and Goalie & Skills programs.
