SPLIT SEASONS

This year we're dividing the hockey season into 3 clearly defined segments: Exhibition, Fall, and Winter.

The goal of the Split Seasons is to dial up the fun while also maximizing our ability to maintain competitive balance in House League. The adding of multiple championships to the Fall & Winter seasons also enables us to provide a fulfilling House League experience.

EXHIBITION/FALL SEASON

The Exhibition segment will last one month and be focused on balancing teams while getting players back into the hockey groove. Players will be evaluated over the initial two weeks, followed by two weeks of exhibition games, with the expectation that many trades will take place in an effort to balance the teams.

Following the Exhibition segment teams will play each other at least once. The standings will be used to determine seeds for the Fall Playoffs: A two-tiered, two-week tournament right before the winter break where we crown the Fall Champion!

  • Every game will impact the final tournament
  • Full players statistics + League standings posted at the rink
  • Playoff games will have an announcer and music

WINTER SEASON

Fall Season teams will be dissolved. With assistance from the Convenor and the Fall Season Statistics, the Coaches will draft teams from the House League Player Pool for the Winter Season!

The Winter regular season standings will determine the seeding for our final one-month Double-Elimination Winter Playoffs.

  • Every game will impact the playoffs
  • Full player statistics + League standings posted at the rink
  • All playoff games will have an announcer and music
  • Individual awards to end the season like Leading Scorer, Most Improved, Most Sporsmanlike, Most Dedicated.

SKILLS PROGRAMS

The GBHA will offer Skills sessions with our Skills Instructors at no extra cost. Those taking place at High Park Outdoor Rink are weather dependant.

Goalie Skills Instructors provide Goalie skills sessions for all levels. These exceptional sessions are Sunday mornings at McCormick Arena, and also come at no additional cost to players.

VOLUNTEERS MAKE EVERYTHING POSSIBLE

A GBHA season can't happen without the support of its parent volunteers.  Our volunteers are Coaches, Assistants Coaches, Trainers and Managers.

If you would like to volunteer in some capacity, please indicate so on your child’s registration or contact us directly.

We are currently seeking parents who are willing to Convene some of our House League Divisions.

Please note that The Greater Toronto Hockey League (the “GTHL”) has made it mandatory for all coaches and volunteers to have a police criminal record check. All must submit a check at the beginning of the season and provide proof of the results to the GBHA administration.

SPONSORSHIP

The cost to sponsor a House League team is $600.00. The company logo will be placed on a banner on the back of a set of jerseys.
